SOUTH BEND - Robert E. Wesolowski, Sr., 84, of South Bend, Indiana passed away at 9:37 a.m., Sunday, March 2, 2014 in Miller's Merry Manor, New Carlisle, Indiana. Robert was born on December 8, 1929 in South Bend to Joseph and Martha (Nowakowski) Wesolowski, and was a lifelong resident. He had been employed with Singer Sewing Machine Company for five years. He then went on to work at the Torrington Company from 1955 until 1984, retiring in 1992. On April 28, 1951 in St. Adalbert Church, he married Virginia Deranek, who survives. Robert and Virginia were married for 62 years. Also surviving are his children, Ann Snyder of Edwardsburg, Michigan, Robert (Bonnie) Wesolowski, Jr. of South Bend, Indiana, John Wesolowski of Naples, Florida, and Mark Wesolowski of South Bend, Indiana; four grandchildren, Bradley Wesolowski, Joseph Wesolowski, Luke Snyder, and Abby Snyder; two sisters, Rita Wozniak of New Carlisle, Indiana, and Joanne Acker of Mishawaka, Indiana; and one brother, Ervin Wesolowski of South Bend, Indiana. Robert was preceded in death by one son, Kenneth Wesolowski; and one granddaughter, Jennifer Snyder. A Catholic Funeral Service will be held at 4 p.m., Thursday, March 6, 2014 in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive. Friends may call from 2 until 4 p.m. on Thursday in the funeral home. Robert was a Korean War Veteran serving from 1951 until 1953. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Pulaski Post #357 and the V.F.W. He was a wonderful handyman. He could fix anything and was generous with his time to everyone. He was a very hardworking man. He loved his wife dearly and treasured his children and grandchildren.
