SOUTH BEND - Casimier V. Sochocki, 87, passed away Wednesday in Memorial Hospital. He is survived by his daughter, Carole (Jerry) Pethick of Thornton, CO; son, Curt (Cindy) Sochocki of New Carlisle; granddaughter, Tracy (Jeff) White of Granger; two great-grandchildren, Adrian and Alyssa White; and by his sister, Florence Kujawski. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday in St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Road, where friends and family may gather at 10 a.m. on Monday.

SOUTH BEND - Casimier V. Sochocki, 87, passed away at 7:55 a.m. on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 in Memorial Hospital. Casimier was born on January 28, 1923 in South Bend to the late Frank M. and Tillie (Szulczewski) Sochocki. On July 5, 1947 he married Dorothy (Kosinski), she preceded him in death on November 22, 2007. He was also preceded in death by his three sisters, Evelyn Celmer, Helen Celmer and Irene Sochocki; and by his three brothers, Frank Sochocki Jr., Walter Sochocki and Zygmund Sochocki. He is survived by his daughter, Carole (Jerry) Pethick of Thornton, CO; son, Curt (Cindy) Sochocki of New Carlisle; granddaughter, Tracy (Jeff) White of Granger; two great-grandchildren, Adrian and Alyssa White; and by his sister, Florence Kujawski. Casimier served his country in the United States Air Force during WWII. He flew on 34 missions as a Bombardier Navigator. He was in the 453rd Bomb Squadron, (323rd Bomb Group of the 9th Air Force). A decorated veteran, among his honors was the Air Medal with the 5 Oak Leaf Clusters. Recently, he was awarded the Legion of Honor from the country of France. He was a member of VFW 1167 and American Legion 357. He worked for Clemans & Tucker Freight lines as a truck driver for 30 years. He was a former member of Holy Cross Catholic Church. The family would like to acknowledge special neighbors and friends, Penny Peppers, Johnny Cotton and Jim McGinn. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, January 30, 2011 in ST JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, where friends and family may gather at 10 a.m. on Monday, January 31, 2011.
