Edward H. Mackowicz, 79, of Broadway Blvd., Mishawaka, Ind., passed away after a sudden illness at 12:43 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000 in St. Joseph Community Hospital, Mishawaka. Mr. Mackowicz was born on Dec. 29, 1920 in Chicago, Ill. as the son of the late Walter and Elsie Mackowicz. On Sept. 9, 1961 in South Bend, Ind., he married the former Betty Ginther. Mr. Mackowicz is survived by his wife of 39 years, Betty; a daughter, Sharlene Freels of Bremen, Ind.; five sons, Edward F. Mackowicz of Walkerton, Kenneth Mackowicz, John Mackowicz, Carl Hafer, and David Hafer, all of Mishawaka; and by 12 grandchildren. Mr. Mackowicz was employed by South Bend Screw Products before retiring in 1983.Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 1, 2001 in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday in the funeral home with Rev. Wayne Brock officiating. Entombment will follow in Riverview Cemetery Mausoleum, South Bend.Donations in memory of Mr. Mackowicz may be made to the donor's choice.
