Mishawaka- Betty Mackowicz, 83, passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2009 in Miller's Merry Manor, Walkerton. Betty was born on January 6, 1926 in South Bend to Frank and Neta (Wyman) Ginther. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister and two brothers. On September 9, 1961 in South Bend as the former Betty Ginther she married Edward H. Mackowicz who preceded her in death on December 28, 2000 after 39 years of marriage. Surviving are a daughter Sharlene (Kenneth) Freels of Bremen; sons Kenneth Mackowicz, Carl Hafer, David Hafer and John (Becky) Mackowicz all of Mishawaka and Edward F. (Dawn) Mackowicz of Walkerton; 12 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and a sister Dorothy Warner of Elkhart. Betty was a loving mother, grandmother and friend. She could always make you smile. Her family, friends and loved ones will always have a special place in their hearts for her. She will never be forgotten. Visitation will be on Thursday, April 30 from 4 to 7 p.m. in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. Funeral services will at 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 1 in the funeral home with Rev. Wayne Brock officiating. Entombment will follow at Riverview Cemetery Mausoleum, South Bend.
