NEW CARLISLE - Dorothy Elaine Walters, 94, passed away Friday, October 2, 2015 in the Hamilton Grove Nursing Facility. Dorothy was born September 7, 1921 in South Bend to the late Alfred and Alice (Sergeant) Buysse. On May 11, 1946 in South Bend, Dorothy married her loving husband, Frederick Walters; he preceded her in death. Dorothy is also preceded in death by three brothers, Robert, George and Larry Mesaros; and a grandson. Survivors of Dorothy include her children, Kathleen (James) Peterson of South Bend, Carolyn (Randy) Chasteen of Lawrenceburg, IN, Elizabeth (Tim) Hawkins of South Bend, Laura Walters of Mantica, CA, David Walters of Mishawaka, and George (Suanne) Walters of South Bend; brother, Jack (Shirley) Mesaros of South Bend; sister, Joyce Pitman of Mishawaka, 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one on the way. Dorothy retired from Carlisle Nursing Home in 1984 where she was a nurse for seventeen years. She enjoyed bird watching, taking care of her African Violets, embroidering and she was an avid reader. Visitation for Dorothy will be 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Wednesday, October 7, 2015 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. A Funeral Ceremony will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, October 8, 2015 in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff at Hamilton Grove for the excellent care given to mom throughout the years.
