Herbert Eugene Amstutz
January 12, 1935 - July 18, 2021
Herbert E. Amstutz, 86, of Goshen, passed from this life to be with Jesus on Sunday, July 18, 2021, at his home. He was born January 12, 1935 in Toledo, Ohio to Allen C. and Gertrude L. (Brorein) Amstutz. On January 3, 1961 he married Linda L. Johnson in Winona Lake. She died May 1, 1998. On September 16, 2000 he married Norma Jean Culp. She survives along with a daughter, Beth (Rick) Pletcher of Nappanee; four sons, Norman (Linda) Amstutz of New Paris, Kevin (Tonya) Amstutz of Syracuse, Philip (Anne) Amstutz of Milford and Keith (Nancy) Amstutz of Nappanee; and seven grandchildren. Mr. Amstutz graduated from Angola High School in 1953 and Manchester College in 1957 with a bachelor's degree and in 1966 from Ball State University with a master's degree. He was a teacher and guidance counselor in the Goshen school system from 1967 to 1990. He also worked at Foamcraft and World Missionary Press. He was a very active member of New Paris Missionary Church where he served on various district committees and boards. He served as the church organist for many years. He was also a member of various county and state retired teachers' organizations. He enjoyed family, friends and church life. His hobbies included the outdoors, traveling, sacred music, photography, reading, writing, gardening and collecting family heirlooms. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 21, 2021, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and again Thursday, July 22, 2021, from 9 a.m. until the 10 a.m. funeral service at New Paris Missionary Church. Pastor David Hackney will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw. Memorial donations may be given to World Missionary Press or New Paris Missionary Church.
