===============
On Jan. 4, 1913, Rev. Alex Varlaky, Pastor of St. Stephens Caholic Church in South Bend, Indiana, married John Ivankovics and Rozalia Papai. The church record adds that John, 28, son of Nicholai & Theresa (Molnar) Ivankovics, was from Hovely; and that Rosalia, 19, daughter of Petri & Elizabeth Papai, was from Fertoszentmiklos. The marriage applications they filed with the county include the following information: John, a laborer in South Bend, had been born June 24, 1884 in Hungary to Michael & Theresa (Molnar) Ivankovics. Rozalia, a resident of South Bend, was born Oct. 13, 1893 in Hungary to Peter & Eliz (Madock) Papoi (sic?). It was the first marriage for both of them. (Records of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, South Bend, Indiana, as transcribed by Chris Kovach in "Hungarian Immigrant Collection" on St. Joseph Co. INGenWeb; and images of county marriage records, familysearch. org)
John Ivankovics registered for the WWI and the WWII draft registrations, both of which give the same date and country of birth.
John & Rose Ivankovics had three known children (in birth order): Julius who died young, John, and Stephen. (Census church, birth, and death records)
