Steven G. Ivankovics

Former South Bend resident Steven G. Ivankovics, 89, of Las Vegas, died at 7:05 a.m. Sunday, August 29, 2010 in the home of his daughter in Queen Creek, AZ following a three month illness. Mr. Ivankovics was born July 28, 1921 in South Bend to the late John and Rose (Papai). On February 14 1942 in South Bend he married Audrey Fields who preceded him in death November 13, 1987. In 1989 in Las Vegas, NV he married Irene (Hupka) Goulet who just recently passed away on Wednesday, September 1, 2010. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Gail M. Myers and a brother, John Ivankovics. He is survived by two daughters, Diane L. McNeil (Stephen) of Middletown, IN and Tina J. McGinnity (Patrick) of Queen Creek; four grandchildren, Audra Dittlinger (Chris), Paul Ivan McNeil, Alisa Haigh (Scott), and Alaina VanVynckt (Joel), three great-grandchildren, Sarah Haigh, Tyler Haigh, and Ava VanVynckt; a son-in-law, Dennis Myers of Mishawaka, IN; five step-children, Maureen Billings (Robert) of Rock Hill, SC, David Goulet of Glendale, AZ, Kevin Goulet (Christine) of Valencia, CA; Art Goulet of South Bend, and James Goulet (Rhonda) of Florida; six step-grandchildren, Shannon Goulet, Lucas Goulet, Madison Goulet, Adam Goulet, Alex Goulet (Bridgett), and Alyson Moran (Jorge); and two step-great-grandchildren. Steve retired from the Bendix Corporation in 1976 as an analytical engineer. He served honorably as a sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II. While living in South Bend he was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. In retirement he loved to play golf and was a die hard fan of the Fighting Irish. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. Noon on Tuesday, September 7th in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 3616 St. Johns Way, with Rev. Charles Herman officiating. Entombment will follow in Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday in the church one hour prior to the mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimers Service, Northern Indiana Chapter, 922 E.
