[N2263] Hernicz
Jan. 8, 1922 - Sept. 28, 2009
SOUTH BEND - Margaret Louise Hernicz passed away of natural causes on Monday, Sept. 28th, at the age of 87. She resided at Lourdes Noreen McKeen Nursing Home, West Palm Beach, Florida. A memorial service is being held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 26, 2009, in the chapel at McKeen Nursing Home, West Palm Beach, FL. Originally from Osceola, Indiana, Margaret had two primary passions in her life, music and her family. A professional songstress from an early age, Margaret met her future husband, Alex, in 1937 at a talent show for WLS radio in Chicago. Three years later they married and remained so for 69 years. They made South Bend and Fort Wayne, Indiana, home while raising their seven children. In 1978 they moved to Orange City, Florida. Margaret performed continually with Alex as singer and bass player for "Two Jacks and a Queen" and "We Three Plus One." Both bands were well-known throughout northern Indiana and central Florida. They performed regularly at the Debary, FL, VFW for over 10 years. Margaret (affectionately known as "Lou") would amaze the crowds with her beautiful singing and yodeling until they retired from performing in 2000. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Agnes Rickard of Osceola, IN, by two children, Dennis Hernicz of Debary, FL, and Susan Hernicz Mason of Jacksonville, FL, and brother, James Rickard of South Bend, IN. She is survived by her devoted husband, Alex of West Palm Beach; sons, Charles (wife, Kathy) Hernicz of Wellington, FL, Michael Hernicz of Oneida, TN, Patrick (wife, Ginny) Hernicz of Knoxville, TN, David Hernicz of Deland, FL; and daughter, Peggy (husband, Greg) Kilmer of Columbus, NJ; brother, Terry (wife, Lois) Rickard of Ft Myers, FL; eight grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
