Dorothy A. T'Kindt
nee Herczeg
August 30, 1942 - August 19, 2021
South Bend - Dorothy A. T'Kindt, 78 of South Bend, passed away on Thursday, August 19th at Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. Dorothy was born on August 30, 1942 to the late Steven J. and Veronica (Bella) Herczeg in South Bend. She is survived by her daughter, Stephanie (Gerald) Glass of South Bend. On August 5, 1972, Dorothy married the love of her life, Frederick J. T'Kindt and they enjoyed 23 years together. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Frederick, daughter Georgia Grygiel and son Gregory Grygiel. Dorothy retired from NIPSCO after more than twenty-five years of service. After retirement, she enjoyed staying busy and was an usher for Notre Dame football games, and volunteered at the Morris Performing Arts Center. From 2018-2020, she worked at the Four Winds Casino. Her most favorite part was meeting new people and the interactions with the customers. In her spare time, she enjoyed fishing, traveling, bird watching, photography, boating and being with her family and friends. For someone who had lost a lot, she still loved life and lived it to the fullest. She was always looking for the next adventure and loved trips to Chicago, Blues concerts and any opportunity to fish or be near the water. She will be forever missed by her family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Dorothy's name to Pet Refuge, 4626 Burnette Drive, South Bend, IN 46614. Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 24th, 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Hanley and Sons Funeral Home "Southwest Chapel" located at 23421 State Road 23/West Ireland Road. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, August 25th at 11:00 A.M., at St. Matthews Cathedral with Father Fisher officiating. Burial will follow at Sumption Prairie Cemetery. HANLEY and Sons Funeral Home handled arrangements and service and extends its deepest sympathy and heartfelt prayers to her family and friends.
