=====================
On Jan. 14, 1902, Rev. Eligius Raczynski, assistant pastor at St. Hedwig Catholic Church in South Bend, Indiana, married Bertha Kalamajska and Joseph Raczynski. The 1910, 1930, and 1940 census records of South Bend list Joseph, who was born in Poland and had immigrated in 1895, and his wife Bertha living on Tonti Ave. In 1910, Joseph was a conductor on the electric line; in 1930, he was the manager of a bowling alley and his sister-in-law, Lottie Kalamajski, was living with them; and in 1940, he was the owner/manager of a restaurant. According to his obituary published in the South Bend Tribune, Joseph died Apr. 26, 1956. Bertha died in 1962. Her date and place of death are given in her death certificate for which her nephew, Leonard Kahler of South Bend, was the informant. His understanding was that Bertha had been born March 12, 1876 in South Bend, and was a widow. The year of birth is consistent with her age in her census records.
