MISHAWAKA - George Fobe, 86, passed away on Thursday, January 31 in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka. George was born on June 23, 1927 in Mishawaka to Adolf and Mary (De Witte) Fobe. He was preceded in death by his parents. On July 10, 1954 in St. Bavo Catholic Church he married Celina DeVliegher. She preceded him in death on March 24, 1983. On July 5, 1985 he then married Odette Barcus. Surviving are his wife, Odette; children, Christine (Thomas) Eberhardt and Gregory (Mary Ellen) Fobe, both of Mishawaka; stepchildren: Karla Forsythe of South Bend, Katherine (Ron) Davis of Mishawaka and James (Tammy) Barcus of Mishawaka; grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth, Christopher, Katelyn, Ryan Eberhardt and Kyle Fobe; step grandchildren, Brandy Forsythe, Matthew Forsythe, Sean Barcus, Brandon (Kristen) Barcus, Brittany (Nate) Wickizer, Steven Waletzko, Jennica (Bryan) Kamphus, Jason Davis and Katrina Davis and great grandchildren Haven and Olivia. George was a Veteran of the United States Navy, a member of St. Bavo Catholic Church, the BK Club, the American Legion. He was also a member of the Bowlers' Hall of Fame in both Mishawaka and South Bend. George was Man of the Year in 2009 for the Mishawaka Business Association. He was an avid fan of N.D. Women's Basketball as well as a long time suffering fan of the Chicago Cubs. George owned and operated the West End Bakery in Mishawaka. Visitation is on Sunday, February 2 from 2 to 6 p.m. with a Rosary at 2:30 in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, February 3 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Bavo Catholic Church, Mishawaka with Rev. Barry England officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka.
