SOUTH BEND - Ervin E. Nowaczewski, 82, of South Bend, passed away Saturday, February 21, 2015, in Memorial Hospital. He was born July 12, 1932, in South Bend, to the late Frank and Hattie (Demski) Nowaczewski, Sr., and was a lifelong area resident. On November 9, 1957, he married Theresa Masszi, who survives. He is also survived by his daughters, Tina (Jim) Holtsberry of Bremen, IN, and Terri (Gene) Bolin of South Bend; his son, Michael (Bonnie) Nowaczewski of South Bend; five grandchildren, Ashley (Tommy) Bryan, Madison Kline, Phillip (Alison) Nowaczewski, Gabriella and Corbin Holts-berry; and by two great-grandchildren, Bianca and Mac. Ervin worked for the South Bend Community School Corporation for 35 years before retiring in 1997. He was a graduate of St. Hedwig grade school and South Bend Catholic High School, class 1952. He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, a member of the American Legion Pulaski Post #357 and St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 pm Tuesday, February 24, 2015, at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, where a Rosary will be prayed at 5 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am Wednesday, February 25, 2015, at St. Hedwig Catholic Church, with burial to follow at Highland Cemetery.
