SOUTH BEND - Rita L. Sipotz, 86, passed away Tuesday, November 18, 2014, in the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. Rita was born August 20, 1928, in North Liberty to the late Edward and Bernice (Szymczak) Zapalski. On October 29, 1955, Rita married Steven Sipotz, who preceded her in death on December 20, 1975. Survivors of Rita include her son, Edward Sipotz of South Bend; and brother, William (Esther) Zapalski of North Liberty. Rita retired from the Torrington Company where she worked in the accounting department. She was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church. Rita enjoyed cooking and gardening. She was a very outgoing person and enjoyed helping others in any way she could. Rita touched the lives of many people and will be greatly missed. Family and friends may call at St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Rd., at 9:00 am Saturday, November 22, 2014, where a procession will begin at 9:30 am to St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am.
