Mary H. Blankert, 94, of Fountainview Place, formerly of Ewing Avenue, passed away at 3:45 a.m. Monday, July 4, 2005, in Fountainview Place. Mrs. Blankert was a housekeeper for Dr. Josephine Murphy. She was a member of Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church, the St. Anne Society and Harvest House. Mary was born on August 13, 1910, in South Bend, to Peter and Rose (Szabo) Szucs. On June 20, 1929, in South Bend, she married Frank Blankert, who died on June 8, 1974. Mary was also preceded in death by a daughter, Marguerite Rozow; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Blankert; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Elizabeth Tarr and Helen Nagy; and by four brothers, Alex Szucs, Geza Szucs, Dale Szucs and Steve Szucs. Surviving are two daughters, Mary Ellen (Frank) Amsler of Summerfield, FL, and Elizabeth (James) Doyle of South Bend; a son, John Blankert of South Bend; a son-in-law, Steve Rozow of North Webster; 17 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren; a half sister, Theresa Kosick of South Bend; and a half brother, John J. Szucs of South Bend. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 9, 2005, in Our Lady of Hungary Church. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S. Kemble Ave., where a Rosary will be recited at 3:00 p.m.
