John F. Blankert, 79, passed away at 1:55am Saturday, May 21, 2022 in Memorial Hospital. John was born on March 13, 1943 in South Bend to Frank and Mary (Szucs) Blankert. They preceded him in death along with his wife Barbara (Myers) Blankert, and his three sisters Mary Ellen Amsler, Elizabeth Doyle, and Marguerite Rozow. Surviving are his daughter Terri (Steve Foster) Blankert, girlfriend of 14 years Marge Solmos and three grandchildren Jason Shipley, Nicholle Bryan and Alexander Bryan. John retire from Bayer where he was employed for 16 years and also was employed with Torrington for 19 years. He loved the outdoors especially fishing, shooting his gun and riding his motorcycle. He also loved wood carving and metal work. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held on June 4 from noon until 4pm at the O’Brien Pavilion, 321 East Walter Street, South Bend, IN 46614. Zahoran Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. .
