William J. Dvorak, 83, of 1229 N. Blaine, died at 6:25 p.m. Monday in his residence. He retired in 1956 as a letter carrier, having worked for the Post Office for 35 years. He was born on Sept. 28, 1894 in Muscado, Wis., and came here 55 years ago from Wisconsin. On Feb. 13, 1926, he married Eulalia Niesen, who survives, along with a daughter, Mrs. Suzanne Ferry of South Bend; three sons, William E. and James W. of South Bend and Richard P. of Niles; 21 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Holy Cross Catholic Church. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the Hickey Funeral Home, 2700 Lincoln Way W. He served in the Army during World War I and was a member of Post 50, American Legion, and Council 553, Knights of Columbus. Dvorak was also a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Cross Church. Published in the South Bend Tribune; Tuesday, Mar. 28, 1978.
