SOUTH BEND - Mary Margaret Nawrocki, 98, passed away peacefully Thursday, December 1, 2016 in West Bend Nursing Facility. Mary was born December 22, 1917 in South Bend, to the late Frank and Mary (Pawlak) Kendziora. On June 24, 1939 Mary married her loving husband Alex Nawrocki; he preceded her in death on December 27, 1997. Mary was also preceded in death by a daughter- in- law, Penny Nawrocki; a son-in-law, Larry Buchanan; brothers, Larry and Joe Kendziora, sister Helen Zawierucha and a niece, Mary Jo Zawierucha Survivors of Mary include her children, Georgene Buchanan, Stanley Nawrocki and Shirley (Dave) Lauver; grandchildren, Rick (Angela) Buchanan, Keith Lauver, Craig Lauver of LasVegas, Jeff (Lexie) Nawrocki, Trina Blume of Ohio; great-grandchildren, Samantha Buchanan & Harlow Nawrocki and several step-great-granchildren; niece, Mary Ann Kendziora, and nephew, Jim Zawierucha. Mary was a parishioner of St. Adalbert Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Harvest House, Rosary Sodality, Sisters Auxiliary, and the American Legion Post #357, Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, fishing with her husband and playing with the family's pets. Mary loved her family dearly; we could always count on a Sunday visit from mom and dad. Visitation for Mary will be 3:00pm to 7:00pm Sunday, December 4, 2016 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. with a Rosary to be prayed at 4:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am, Monday, December 5, 2016 in St. Adalbert Catholic Church, Olive Street, South Bend, with a 1 hour visitation prior to service in church. Burial will follow at St Joseph Cemetery. A special thank you to the Staff at the West Bend Nursing Facility, especially the Cottage Section.
