That letter that I keep referring to points out that when Helen was growing up, she wanted to know about her real mother, but apparently, new mom and step-sisters/brothers destroyed all records of Frances. Seems odd. I imagine that it was a stressful time, if in fact Frances died at childbirth and John remarried so quickly. But the step-sisters are not the ones that would have been angered. It would have been Walter and Bruno, my grandfather.
