SOUTH BEND - Theophiel J. Maeyens, 88, passed away Wednesday, November 26, 2014 in Memorial Hospital. Theophiel was born May 23, 1926 in South Bend to the late Oscar and Elisa (Naessens) Maeyens. Theophiel is also preceded in death by his son, David, his daughter, Julie, and his brothers, Elmer, Rene, and Clarence. On May 1, 1948 in Sacred Heart Church in South Bend, Theophiel married Lorraine (Wright) Maeyens. She survives along with their children, Michael (Elizabeth) Maeyens of South Bend, Kathryn (Roger) Maeyens-Mattix of South Bend, Mary Wanke of Elkhart, Lori (Bill) Claeys of Edwardsburg, and Renita (Len) Dygulski of South Bend; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Theophiel was an Electrical Inspector for St. Joseph County for 12 years, and the owner of Liberty Electric for 7 years. He was a member of the IBEW local #153 for over 60 years. Theophiel was a parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church. He enjoyed his Lionel model trains, and was an avid bowler and Notre Dame football fan. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family. Visitation for Theophiel will be 2:00pm to 6:00pm Sunday, November 30, 2014 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. where a Rosary will be prayed at 5:30pm. A Funeral Ceremony will be celebrated at 10:00 am in the Funeral Home on Monday, December 1, 2014. Entombment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Garden Cemetery. In lieu of flowers Memorial Contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes, 2004 Ironwood Circle, #140, South Bend, Indiana 46635.
