SOUTH BEND - Wanda C. Gadacz, 92, passed away at 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 27, 2008, in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center. Wanda was born on January 23, 1916, in South Bend, to the late Frank and Mary (Lusa) Makowski. On June 5, 1937, Wanda married John J. Gadacz, who passed away on September 18, 1977. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Jack,. Marion, Bert, John, Stanley and Mack; a sister, Mary Schultz; and a grandson, Michael. She is survived by her daughter, Charlotte (James) Matthews of South Bend; a son, Jerry Gadacz of Granger; grandchildren, Gregg, John, David and Lauri; five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Wanda worked at Sample Kit, G&H Restaurant, St. Adalbert Hall and Heritage Center, and was a housekeeper in St. Adalbert Rectory. She was involved with the Sister Auxiliary, Rosary Society, Harvest House, Golden Cluster and Daughters of Isabella at St. Adalbert Catholic Church, the Parent Teacher Association and Z.B. Falcons. She enjoyed traveling and playing cards, and loved to bake everything from scratch. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today, Jan. 29, 2008, in ST JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, where a Rosary will be prayed at 4 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2008, in St. Adalbert Catholic Church. Entombment will follow in Resurrection Gardens Mausoleum at St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Alzheimer's Association. For those who are unable to attend the funeral liturgy, condolences for the family may be made at www.sjfh.net.
