Evelyn Hidy, 89, of St. Joseph, passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2009 at New Orchard Grove Extended Care Centre, Benton Harbor. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, September 10, 2009 at Starks and Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, M.I. 49085 with Rev. Thomas Batsky officiating. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens, Hagar Twp. Friends may visit prior to the funeral service from 12:00 P.M. to 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made out to Alzheimer's Society or Trinity Lutheran Church. Evelyn (Rindfleish) Hidy was born on September 25, 1919 in St. Joseph, MI to David and Mary (Baumgardt) Rindfield. She married her husband, Earl Hidy and together they raised a daughter, Gloria. Evelyn worked at Modern Plastics in Benton Harbor. She was a waitress at Chicken Nook and Zitis in St. Joseph for 14 years before raising a family. She enjoyed going to McDonalds and Burger King with her husband Earl daily. Evelyn was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in St. Joseph and attended Bible Study regularly. Most of all, she will be missed as a loving and caring person to everyone whom she met. Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Gloria of South Bend, IN; Grand-sons, Erik (Kendrick) Adams of Mathiston, MS and Brent (Amy) Adams of South Bend, IN; Brothers and Sisters, Lidia Blosser of Berrien Springs, MI., Arthur Rindfield of Lawrence, MI. and Lila Saper of Chicago, IL., Great grand-children, Chaffin, Isaac and William Walton; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Earl Hidy in 1998; Brothers and Sisters, Mollie Giffis, Dorothy Wesner, Julius Rindfield, Hilda Rauch and David Rindfield Jr.
