Valentine "Val" Delinski
Jan. 17, 1925 - Sept. 4, 2013
NILES - Valentine T. Delinski, 88, of Niles, Michigan passed away at Lakeland Hospital in Niles, on Wednesday, September 4, 2013. Val was born on January 17, 1925 in South Bend, IN to the late Valentine and Laura Delinski. He was the youngest of 8 children. Brothers Al, Edward, Harry and sisters Adeline, Harriett, Lucille and Marie all preceded him in death. On August 9, 1947, he married Elaine Kolski, in South Bend, IN. Together they shared 66 years of marriage. Val is survived by his wife, Elaine, his two children, Janet (Don) Miller, and David (Sonya) Delinski, both of Niles, and grandson Brock (Kathleen) Delinski of Santa Barbara, California. Val honorably served his country in the United States Navy. He was a retired shipping supervisor from Tyler Refrigeration, Niles, MI. He enjoyed fishing and watching all levels of football, either on TV or watching his grandson from the stands. He enjoyed the years he was a junior high and high school basketball referee. He always had a joke or story to tell and usually had people smiling or giggling just seconds into a conversation. Val's Catholic faith was a source of comfort and a priority in his life. Visitation will be held at Brown Funeral Home; 521 E. Main St. Niles, on Friday, September 6, 2013, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM, with a Rosary said at 7:30. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mark Catholic Church; 3 South 19th St., Niles, MI at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 7, 2013. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Niles.
