[N18115] Joseph Koloszar, Jr.
July 8, 1941 - Nov. 18, 2017
SOUTH BEND - Joseph Koloszar, Jr., 76, of South Bend, died in his residence on Saturday, November 18th. Mr. Koloszar was born July 8, 1941, in Pinnye, Hungary, to the late Gisella (Szekendi) and Jozsef Koloszar. In 1956 he came from Hungary with his family to South Bend. On June 6, 1964, in South Bend, he married Constance J. Kershner, who preceded him in death in 2004. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Helen Finta. He is survived by his children, J. Paul Koloszar (Karen) of Monroe, OH, James A. Koloszar (Theresa) of Milwaukie, OR, John G. Koloszar (Beth) of Salem, OR, and Susan M. Wise (Aaron) of Pine Village, IN; nine grandchildren, Rebecca, Alison, Stuart, Emily, Nathan, Sydney, and Jordan Koloszar, and Zachary and Erica Wise; and his siblings, Pearl Hinora (Steve) of South Bend and John Koloszar (Sue) of Woodbridge, VA. A lifetime gardener, Joe also loved to fish. To the benefit of all who knew him, he was a much better gardener than a fisherman. As generous with his time as he was with his garden bounty, Joe would drop everything to help neighbors and friends in need. Although it sounds trite, Joe was simply loving, caring, understanding. The archetypal good son, good brother, good husband, good father, amazing grandfather, good friend to all. Simply, a good man. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 27th, in Christ the King Catholic Church, 51033 S.R. 933. Committal services and burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 until 5 p.m. Sunday, November 26th, in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Rd., where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Research Institute, or to a charity of the donor's choice. Family and friends may leave email condolences at www.welsheimer.com. Published in South Bend Tribune on Nov. 22, 2017
