Guy was the youngest of four children born to Dwight Stoner Holderman and Leatha Margaret Brody. He had three older sisters. He served in WWII. Guy first married Geraldine Lucille Kurzhal (daughter of Herbert Kurzhal and Ellen Tetzlaff) on 27 Dec 1941 in South Bend, Indiana. He married a second time to Wynieta Mae "Nietie" Hostetler (daughter of David Hostetler and Effie Koontz) on 12 Oct 1946. They had three children:

Thomas Lynn
