South Bend - Halina Barbara Kleszcz, 91, passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at her home. Halina was born February 25, 1926 in Warsaw, Poland to the late Albin and Mary (Nuszkiewicz) Kalinowski. On November 16, 1948, in Poland, Halina married John Kleszcz, he preceded her in death on December 11, 2010. Halina was also preceded in death by a daughter, Ann Szerla. Survivors of Halina include a daughter, Barbara (Mike) Hummel of Walkerton; son-in-law, Wesley Szerla of Glen Ellyn, IL; niece, Hildegard Hlawacz; and several great nieces and nephews. Halina worked for the Automatic Molded Plastic Company. She was a parishioner of St. Adalbert Catholic Church. Halina was also a member of Polish National Alliance (PNA), and Free Poland. She enjoyed drawing, painting and travelling. Halina was a sweet and kindhearted yet a strong-willed lady. She was known for always offering to lend a helping hand. Despite all the struggles of growing up during the war in Poland, Halina never lost her faith in God or love for her fellow man. Visitation for Halina will be held 3:00pm to 5:00pm on Monday, February 26, 2018 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. A Funeral Ceremony will follow at 5:00pm in the Funeral Home Chapel. Entombment will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s and Dementia Services, 922 E. Colfax Ave., South Bend, Indiana 46617.
