Theresa B. Howard, 89, of South Bend, passed away on Tuesday, May 10, 2016, at Healthwin Specialized Care Facility. She was born on April 30, 1927, in South Bend, to the late Ladislaus "Lottie" and Stella (Duszynski) Wegner. On June 20, 1956, in St. Casimir Catholic Church, as Theresa B. Wegner, she married Timothy E. Howard, who preceded her in death on April 26, 2012. Also preceding her in death were a son, Daniel A. Howard; a daughter-in-law, Kirsten Howard; two sisters, Loretta Kadulski and Gertrude Ziolkowski; and a brother, Irwin "Sam" Wegner. Theresa is survived by her son, John Howard; two grandsons, Timothy J. and Matthew A. Howard; and a sister, Aurelia Wilmering, all of South Bend. Mrs. Howard worked as a Telephone Operator for Ma Bell for 11 years and also worked at Sears and Roebuck for 5 years. She graduated from South Bend Catholic High School in 1945. She went on to meet her husband at a dance and they were married three months later. Theresa was a very devoted parishioner of St. Anthony de Padua Church, Legion of Mary and had an avid devotion to St. Theresa. She visited numerous area nursing homes as a spiritual counselor and enjoyed painting ceramics and traveling. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, May 13, 2016 at St. Casimir Catholic Church, 1308 Dunham St., South Bend. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. at the church, with burial to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
