GRANGER - Gladys M. Clarke, 93, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2015. Gladys was born in South Bend, IN, on August 31, 1921, to the late Frank J. and Mary (Jankowski) Nowak. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Judith Siatkowski; son-in-law, Gary Starr; three grandchildren, Steven and David LaCluyse and Mark Siatkowski; and a great-grandson, Stephen Siatkowski. Left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Patricia Starr of South Bend and Nancy (Thom) Reith of Granger; son-in-law, Bill Siatkowski of Granger; nine grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Gladys was a courageous and strong-willed woman who raised 3 children alone and worked hard to continue her education and become a Registered Nurse. She worked many years for the St. Joseph County Health Department and in the school system. The most important thing in Gladys' life was her family. They were the center of her life. Aside from spending time with family, she enjoyed traveling and even paid to take her daughters and their husbands on a cruise. She had a loving heart and will be missed. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 24, at 11:30 AM at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior in the church.
