SOUTH BEND - Teresa (nee Pajakowski) Varda, age 87, of Wyckoff, NJ,, died Friday, December 26, 2014. Born in South Bend, IN, Teresa and her husband, Roy, moved to Wyckoff in 1965, where they raised their six children. Teresa was an Admissions Clerk at The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, NJ, for many years before her retirement in 1994. She was a devoted parishioner of St. Elizabeth's R.C. Church in Wyckoff, where she was a member of the Rosary Society. She drove for many years for Wyckoff Meals-on-Wheels. Teresa was a lifetime fan of the University of Notre Dame football team (Go Irish!). Surviving are her loving children: Cecile and her husband, Martin Bacola; Carol and her husband, Douglas Hill, Jr.; Michael and his wife, Adriane; Paul; and John and his wife, Kathleen. Teresa also leaves 13 cherished grandchildren: Gina and Anthony Bacola; Casey and Alexander Hill; Daniel and his wife Katie, Melissa, Scott and Adam Varda; Elizabeth and Nathanial Varda; Shawna Fitzgerald, Chelsea Fitzgerald Mosier and her husband, Kevin, Lydon Fitzgerald, his wife Sarah, and their son, Jayce, Teresa's first great-grandchild. Teresa was pre-deceased by her husband Roy in 1998; her daughter, Susan Varda Fitzgerald in 1990; her parents, Stephan and Helen (nee Kalamaja); her sister, Virginia Krol; and her 4 brothers, Casimir, Leo, Roman and Ernest Pajakowski. The Varda family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 30, 2014, from 2:00 until 4:00 and 7:00 until 9:00 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ. Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, December 31, 2014, at 10:00 AM from St. Elizabeth's R.C. Church, 700 Wyckoff Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ. Interment will follow at Maryrest Cemetery in Mahwah, NJ.
