The date of birth shown above is approximate and is as it appears in the 1900 census record of South Bend, Indiana. See more about her date of birth later in her bio. Catherine was married twice, first to Frank Otolski, second to Anthony Ruszkowski. Refer to her husbands' memorials for their shared biographies. Catherine's date and place of death and the name of the cemetery in which she was buried are given in her Indiana death certificate for which Anthony Ruszkowski, her husband, was the informant. His understanding was that she had been born in Poland to John Wisniewski. His understanding of her date of birth was entered as March 3, 1872, however, her age, entered first as 79 years, was overwritten with 69, apparently to bring it into agreement with the date of birth entered. Her age in the 1900-1940 census records indicates that she was born 1859-1864, so it would appear that it was the year of birth entered on her death certificate, not her age, that may have needed correction. The cemetery interment records indicate that Catherine Ruszkowski, was buried in section E, lot 41, i. e. , with her first husband and other Otolski family members. She has no extant grave marker with her name in the lot (nor elsewhere in the cemetery).
