NEW CARLISLE - Joseph Koziel, age 62, of New Carlisle, IN, passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2016, at University Hospital in Indianapolis, IN. Joseph was born May 22, 1953, in South Bend, IN, to Sigmund and Angeline (Buczyna) Koziel, who preceded him in death. He was married November 3, 1979, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Michigan City, IN, to Susan Storey, who survives. Joseph is also survived by his children: Jacob (Kristen) Koziel, Kelly (Aaron) Hill and Timothy (Katie) Koziel; future grandson: Baby Hill; brothers: John (Thelma) Koziel, Richard Koziel; and brother-in-law: Larry Smith; sisters: Vickie Parrott, Patty Hemphill; and sister-in-law: Kathy Daly-Koziel; and numerous loving nieces and nephews including Dr. Bambi (Jason) Weyers. He was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, sisters: Mickie Smith, Annette Lashua, brother: Bernie Koziel, sister-in-law: Regina Koziel; brothers-in-law: Jim Parrott, LaMonte Hemphill and Jerry Lashua. Joseph was retired after a 33 year career as an engineer in the brake system. He worked for Bendix/Allied-Signal/Bosch between the years of 1979 and 2012 in South Bend and St. Joseph, MI, plants. Joseph enjoyed produce farming and besides his family, it was his biggest love. Joseph enjoyed a good game of horseshoes and loved to fish and go deer hunting with the boys. He was a renowned handyman and was always busy working on various projects. He liked watching his kids play sports and helping out in various capacities at the local schools.Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, January 22, 2016, 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Geisen-Carlisle Funeral Home, located at 613 Washington St., Michigan City, IN, and on Saturday, January 23, 2016, 10:00 to 11:00 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church, located at 818 Franklin St., Michigan City, IN. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2016, 11:00 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church, with Pastor Mark Reshan officiating. Services will conclude at church and cremation will take place.
