SOUTH BEND - John T. Hernicz III, 75, passed away at 9:20 am Friday, Oct. 24, 2014, in his home. John was born Aug. 11, 1939, in South Bend, to the late John & Mary Hernicz. On Jan. 14, 1999, John married Marian (Jozwiak). John was preceded in death by a daughter, Tillie Schram; stepson, William Gryw-czynski; sisters, Maryanne 'Chi Chi' Lekarczyk and Pam Quimby; and a stepsister, Barbara Heilman. Survivors include his wife, Marian Hernicz; daughters, Chris (Alan) Sanders, and Cindy (Frank Cartwright) Grywczynski-Spencer; step-brother, David (Linda) Leeper; ten grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. John honorably served in the Navy from 1955 1957. John had worked at Steel Warehouse and Diamond Trucking and was a member of American Legion Post 357. He enjoyed working in his garden and spending time with his wife, Marian. Visitation is 5-7 pm today, Oct. 29, 2014, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd.
