SOUTH BEND - John Z. Hernicz Jr., 98, passed away at 6:50 p.m. January 24, 2009, in the Sanctuary at St. Joseph. John was born on November 14, 1910, in South Bend, to John Sr. and Mary (Fucsok) Hernicz. He was preceded in death by his parents, and by a daughter, Mary Ann Leckarzek. Surviving John are a daughter, Pam (Mike) Quimby; a son, John (Marian) Hernicz III; step-son, David (Linda) Leeper, all of South Bend; a brother, Alex (Louise) Hernicz of Florida; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. A private memorial service will be held. The family would like to thank the staff of the Sanctuary at St. Joseph, Hospice, and the St. Joseph Funeral Home.
