John A. "Ham" Egyhazi

SOUTH BEND - John A. "Ham" Egyhazi, 94, passed away at 5:10 am Friday, Oct. 18, 2013, in Hospice House. John was born on Feb. 21, 1919, in South Bend, to Julius and Elizabeth (Foki) Egyhazi. Ham retired in 1975 from White Farm Equipment where he was employed for 38 years. He was a World War II Army veteran and member of the former DFV German Club. On June 10, 1943, he married the former Rose H. Strantz. She died on July 8, 2010. He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Elizabeth Wolfram, Frances Mittermayer and Martha Egyhazi; and four brothers, Joseph, Julius, Stephen and Carl. Surviving are two daughters, Susan (Julian) Dhoore of Niles and Mary (Larry) Karnes of Mishawaka; a son, John (Jenny) Egyhazi of South Bend; 6 grandchildren, Christopher (Kristin) Dhoore, Cassandra (Richard) Weglowski, Theresa (Chris) Taylor, Douglas (Brooke) Karnes, Alexandra Egyhazi, and Christina Egyhazi; 7 great-grandchildren; a sister, Florence Wisneski of South Bend; and a brother, William (Faye) Egyhazi of South Bend. Funeral services will be celebrated at 11:00 am Wednesday, October 23, 2013, in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 South Kemble Avenue. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4-7 Tuesday in the funeral home, where a Rosary will be recited at 4:30 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to The Center for Hospice.
