SOUTH BEND - Grace C. Makielski, 70, of 1017 E. Chippewa Ave., died at 4:35 a.m. today at St. Joseph's Medical Center. Mrs. Makielski was a former employee of the University of Notre Dame. She was born Sept. 29, 1921, in South Bend and was a lifelong area resident. [Grace was born in Indianapolis, but lived most of her life in South Bend.] On Feb. 10, 1945, in South Bend, as Grace Linden, she married Ernest A. Makielski. He died May 3, 1977. She is survived by a daughter, Rosanna Hopper of Granger; a son, Terry of Winter Haven, Fla.; two grandchildren; and a brother, Milton Neitzel of California.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Zahoran Funeral Home. Burial will be in Southlawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Published in the South Bend Tribune; Jan 27, 1992. Corrected information made in brackets by Anthony Makielski on 2/9/2019.
