SOUTH BEND - William S. Baloun, 84, passed away 4:10 am Saturday, September 20, 2014, at his home. Bill retired in 1992 following 28 years with Miles/Bayer Corporation where he served as a draftsman. He proudly served his country during the Korean War with the United States Navy. Bill has been a faithful member of St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church for 54 years. Bill was born on December 26, 1929, in South Bend, IN, to the late Otto and Justine (Prikosovits) Baloun, and remained a lifelong resident. On November 18, 1950, in South Bend, IN, Bill married Lillian M. (Vaghy) Baloun and they celebrated 60 years together before her passing on December 1, 2010. Mr. Baloun is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Robert Tolen of South Bend; his son, James Baloun of South Bend; three granddaughters, Kasan-dra (David) Frazier, Kayla Baloun and Karly Baloun; two great-granddaughters, Karmen and Lilly; brother and sister-in-law, Norman and Connie Baloun of South Bend; and sister-in-law, Irene Lusk of South Bend. One brother and sister-in-law, Rudy and Dorothy Baloun, preceded Bill in death. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 24, 2014, at Highland Cemetery, South Bend, IN. Palmer Funeral Home-River Park and Southlawn Cremation Services are assisting the family. Contributions in memory of Bill Baloun may be made to the Humane Society of St. Joseph County, 2506 Grape Road, Mishawaka, IN 46545.
