Lillian M. Baloun
December 28, 1929 - December 1, 2010
Lillian M. Baloun, a lifelong resident of South Bend, passed away peacefully at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday, December 1, 2010 with her family at her side. She was 80 years old. She was born December 28, 1929 in South Bend, a daughter of Joseph & Mary (WIlfing) Vaghy, and was a graduate of James Whitcomb Riley High School.
On November 18, 1950 in Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church, South Bend, she was united in marriage to William S. Baloun. She is survived by her loving husband William, with whom she recently celebrated 60 years of marriage. Also surviving is her daughter Cheryl (Bob) Tolen of South Bend, her son, James Baloun of South Bend, and three granddaughters, Kassandra Baloun of Niles, MI; Kayla Baloun of Orlando, FL; and Karly Baloun of South Bend. Also surviving is a great-granddaughter Karman Baloun of Niles, and her sister, Irene Lusk of South Bend.
Mrs. Baloun retired from the Insurance Dept. at the South Bend Clinic following 21 years of service. She was a member of St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church for 54 years. Lillian was a loving wife, and good buddy and best friend to her children, Cheryl and Jim, and a wonderful grandmother. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at St. Anthony dePadua Catholic Church, 2120 E. Jefferson Blvd, South Bend. Private burial will follow. The family would like all memorial contributions to the Center for Hospice Care, Inc., 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637. The Palmer Funeral Home-River Park Chapel, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, is assisting the Baloun family with arrangements. 60th Wedding Anniversary
William and Lillian Baloun were married on November 18, 1950, in Our Lady of Hungary Church, South Bend. They have two children, Cheryl (Bob-Ed) Tolen and James, three granddaughters and one great-granddaughter. The couple has resided in South Bend their entire lives.
