South Bend - Jean E. Zolman, 80, passed away on Monday, February 4, 2019 after a long illness. Jean was born September 1, 1938 in Ann Arbor, Michigan to the late Charles and Alice (Paradise) Martin. On December 17, 1966 Jean married Walter Zolman, who preceded her in death on September 9, 2015. Jean was also preceded in death by her beloved grandson, Tyler Hurtle; sister, Charlotte Bush; and brother, Chuck Martin. Jean is survived by her children: Eric (Kathy) Zolman of Charleston, SC., Sara Zolman of South Bend, and Jason Zolman of South Bend; grandsons: Samuel Zolman, Maximus Zolman, and Colton Litka; and sisters, Mary O'Reilly and Johanna Schwinke. Jean retired from the South Bend Community School Corporation in 2002, previously, she taught for 5 years at Navarre School was a guidance secretary at LaSalle High School for 19 years. Jean was very involved with Chet Waggoner Little League, she bowled for 45 years with School Women Bowlers. She was a proud Michigan Wolverine Alumna of the School of Education. Jean’s greatest joys in life were her children, grandchildren, and teaching. Visitation for Jean will be 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm Friday, February 8, 2019 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd.
