OSCEOLA, IN - Elsie Eleanor Leitner, 84, passed away on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka. Elsie was born May 21, 1934, the last of four children born to Felix and Pharilde (De Pyper) Van Den Driessche. She married Frank Leitner at St. Bavo Church in Mishawaka on March 18, 1972. He preceded her in death on January 17, 2011. She graduated from St. Bavo School in Mishawaka and St. Joseph Academy in South Bend, Indiana. Elsie worked as a secretary at Notre Dame and later as an executive secretary at Bendix Corporation, where she met Frank. Elsie was a woman of quiet faith, honesty, and integrity. She was devoted to her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling with her family and friends and always had a great sense of humor. Elsie was well known for her brownies and other baked goods. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered. Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Brian Leitner of Hillsboro, Oregon; her daughter, Beth (David) Bandy of Monroe, North Carolina; her beloved grandchildren, Felix and Joy Bandy; sisters-in-law, Mary Emma Van Den Driessche, Mary Lou Hauch, and Donna (Kenneth) Holfeltz; brother-in-law, Kenneth Leitner, as well as several nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry (Martha) and Cyril; a sister, Leona (Cyriel) Vande Voorde; sister-in-law, Delores (Charles) Monk; brothers-in-law, Bernard (Elinor) Leitner, Raymond (Shirley) Leitner, and Alois Hauch; and nephew, James Van Den Driessche. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 20 from 3 to 7 p.m., with vigil service at 4 p.m. in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 21, with visitation one hour prior, in Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Father John Eze will officiate. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
