SOUTH BEND - Ted (Teddy) Puchala (70) known as "Mr. ND" and "Notre Dame's #1 Fan" to his family and friends, passed away in his sleep at home on September 11, 2015 after a short battle with cancer. He was born on January 23, 1945 in Germany, to Mieczyslaw (Matt) and Veronica (Praciak) Puchala. Teddy began a lifelong association with the Logan Center as a young child. This led to him becoming involved with the University of Notre Dame and the student population. A new world opened to him. Through the generosity of the college and the student body, he was invited to many of the sporting events on campus. You would be hard pressed to find a bigger Notre Dame fan than Ted. He especially loved watching the football team, and would gladly tell you all about the team each year, who they were playing, and how they were doing. He had several opportunities to meet the team, but the highlight was always getting to meet the coach. Ted will no doubt be rooting for ND from now on from some of the best seats. Ted was involved with community based activities with Logan staff, in addition to working at Logan Industries. He continued his community active with Logan staff, after retiring from Logan Industries, until his illness prevented him from leaving his home. Ted's kind heart and generous nature is evident in the many friends he has made throughout the years, and he will be greatly missed by us all. Ted is preceded in death by his father, Mieczyslaw Puchala, his brothers, Franus and Marion Puchala, and his nephew, Mathew McWilliams. Ted is survived by his mother, Veronica Puchala of South Bend, his sisters, Barbara (Howard) Lenhardt of Niles, MI, Dorothy (Bill) Ault of Ontario, CA, Christine (Timothy) Fox of South Bend, IN and Jeanette McWilliams of South Bend, IN; by his nieces and nephews, Phillip (Angela) Lenhardt of Ann Arbor, MI, Jason McWilliams of South Bend, IN, Shawn (Marie) Lenhardt of Ypsilanti, MI, Jennifer Scally of Niles, MI, James Lenhardt of Niles, MI and Shannon (Benjamin) Lauer of South Bend, IN; and by many other extended family members. Visitation will be held 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 in St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. with Rosary to be prayed at 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Thursday, September 17, 2015 in Christ the King Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
