MISHAWAKA - Cecelia "Cece" Irene (Kapalczyn-ski) Matthews passed away in her home Thursday, October 8, 2015. Cece was born March 23, 1925, in South Bend, to the late Helen (Laskowski) and Casmir Kapalczynski, and was a lifelong resident of South Bend-Mishawaka. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, and a son, Brian. She is survived by a son, Marc of Mishawaka; daughters, Rachel Matthews and Karen Grove (Don); and grandsons, Matthew and Austin Grove, all of Minneapolis, MN. Cece loved dogs, particularly her grand dogs, Syd, Sammy, Luna and Rudy. She was an avid Notre Dame fan, and will always be remembered by her family for her generosity and her remembrance of every birthday or holiday with a card or gift. She was a longtime member of St Pius X Church, Granger. Prior to her husband Frank's death, they made many trips to Minneapolis and throughout the United States and parts of Europe. A private Mass and burial will be celebrated. Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Rd., is assisting the family with arrangements.
