SOUTH BEND - Marlene A. Blasko, 73, of South Bend and formerly of Mishawaka, died at 5:30 P.M. Thursday, November 24th in South Bend. Marlene was born December 9, 1937 in Mishawaka, IN to the late Maurice and Mary (Demartelaere) Van Ooteghem. Also preceding her in death was a brother, Richard Van Ooteghem. On August 4, 1956 at St. Bavo's Catholic Church in Mishawaka, Marlene married George Blasko. George survives along with five daughters: Sherry L. (Clay) Morris of Pedmont, OK; Deborah A. Blasko, Cathy S. (Ken) Martsolf, Paula M. (Tonya Burtchett) Blasko, all of South Bend and Monica L. (Kirk) Blank of Granger; and one son, Jeffrey M. (Aricia) Blasko of Flower Mound, TX: seven grandchildren: Jammie, Chris, Derrick, Mitch, Morgan, Michael and Nicholas; six great grandchildren; one niece, Lora (Oliver) Wade; one nephew, Richard (Gean) Van Ooteghem; and a sister-in-law, Mary Van Ooteghem of Mishawaka. Marlene worked in the collections department for the Associates for 24 years. After her retirement she worked part-time at the West End Bakery. She was a member of St. Monica's Catholic Church and the Rosary Society as well as the church choir. She was a graduate of St. Bavo Elementary School and Mishawaka High School. Marlene enjoyed dancing and having lunch with her 8th grade classmates. She volunteered for Hospice and was a member of the St. Vincent dePaul Society. Visitation for Marlene will be Sunday, Nov. 27th from 2-6 at the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th St., Mishawaka. Friends may also call one hour prior to the Mass of Christian Burial which will be held on Monday at 10:00 A.M. at St. Monica's Catholic Church with Monsignor Bruce Piechocki officiating. Memorial contributions in memory of Marlene may be made to the Center for Hospice Care, 111 Sunnybrook Ct., South Bend, IN 46637.
