SOUTH BEND - George Blasko, 77, died at 12:45 a.m., Wednesday, December 28 in South Bend. George was born on February 27, 1934 in Mishawaka to the late Paul and Mary (Mundich) Blasko. Also preceding him in death were two sisters, Anna and Rose and a brother, Paul "Butch". On August 4, 1956 at St. Bavo Catholic Church in Mishawaka, George married the former Marlene Van Ooteghem; she preceded him in death on November 24, 2011. Surviving are five daughters, Sherry L. (Clay) Morris of Piedmont, OK, Deborah A. Blasko, Cathy S. (Ken) Martsolf, Paula M. (Tonya Burtchett) Blasko all of South Bend, and Monica L. (Kirk) Blank of Granger; one son, Jeffrey M. (Aricia) Blasko of Flower Mound, TX; seven grandchildren, Jammie, Chris, Derrick, Mitch, Morgan, Michael and Nicholas; six great grandchildren and nieces Judith Ann Riley, Sharon Kay (Larry) (Riley) Ward, Barbara Lynn Riley and Rose Marie Riley who helped care for dad during his illness. George was a Carrier for the Radiology Inc. He previously worked for Kiser Jeep, Goldblatts and Van Ooteghem and Son. He was a member of St. Monica Catholic Church, Mishawaka, a volunteer for St. Vincent de Paul Society and a member of Mishawaka Alumni Club. He loved to dance. He was a softball pitching coach for many years and was a former president of North Side Little League. George even had a softball field named after him. George was well known for his Keiflies, operating from his home as Keiflies by George. As per George's wishes there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 31 in St. Monica Catholic Church with Monsignor Bruce Piechocki officiating. Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka has been entrusted with handling the arrangements.
