COLUMBUS, OH - David James Cernak, of Columbus, Ohio passed away at the James Cancer Center on Dec. 31, 2016, after a lengthy illness. He was born in South Bend, Indiana on November 20, 1952, beloved son of Helen (Mlynarek) Cernak and Walter Cernak. David graduated from St. Joseph's High School in South Bend, and from Indiana University in South Bend. He obtained his MBA from the University of Notre Dame in finance, and worked as a banker thereafter. From 1996 to 1998, David worked at a bank in Dharan, Saudi Arabia, and resided at the American compound in Dharan. During his lifetime David loved to travel in the United States, Europe, Asia and Australia. He is survived by one sister and four brothers and numerous nieces and nephews. At his request, he was cremated and there will not be a funeral service. Contributions may be made to the James Cancer Center, Ohio State Medical School, Columbus, Ohio.
