[N14475] Rita Bogucki
April 20, 1925 - April 13, 2018

SOUTH BEND - Rita Catherine Bogucki, 92, passed away on Friday, April 13, 2018 in the West Bend Nursing Facility. Rita was born April 20, 1925 in South Bend to the late John and Stella (Palka) Podemski. On August 31, 1944 Rita married John T. Bogucki, who preceded her in death. Rita was also preceded in death by a son, Patrick G. Bogucki; her three sisters, Margie, Clara, and Delores; and her brother, Marvin. Survivors of Rita include her three sons, John A. (Mary Ann) Bogucki, Kenneth (Laura) Bogucki, and Ronald (Krystyna) Bogucki; 10 grandchildren, Danielle (Gavin) Binzer, Alyssa Calder, Alena (Jonathan) McCullough, John J. Bogucki, Tina (William) Bebout, Audra (Sam Lolmaugh) Bogucki, Dale Bogucki, Leon (Janet Horvath) Bogucki, Jessica (Darrell) Seitz, and Daniel (Sarah) Bogucki; 15 great-grand children, Cole, Emma, Eli, Libby, Olive Mae, Tadziu, Kaleigh, Hayley, Morgan, Derek, Nathan, Canna, Alex, Grant, and Isabella May; and 3 great-great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Nathaniel, and Zecheriah. Also surviving are Rita's 3 half-sisters, Rosemary Cornelius, Sandy Van Winkle, and Jackqulin Eggeson. Throughout her life, Rita was a devout and faithful Catholic. At different times in her life, depending on where she was residing, Rita was a member of St. Hedwig, St. Joseph, Holy Family, Sacred Heart of Lakeville, and St. Jude's Catholic parishes. Rita was an excellent cook and baker, and a gifted self-taught artist; she also enjoyed needlepoint and her flowers, especially pansies. Rita was a wonderfully devoted mother who enjoyed taking care of her family. She took great pride in the accomplishments of her four sons, all of whom grew up to be upstanding, respected, and contributing citizens in our community. She probably never realized that she was the main reason why they turned out that way. Rita was a modest, patient, and generous woman, and she will be absolutely missed by us all. Visitation for Rita will be held 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Wednesday, April 18, 2018 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. with a Rosary to be prayed at 4:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, April 19, at 10:00 am in Holy Family Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Center for Hospice Care, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, IN 46545; or Riley Children's Hospital, 30 S. Meridian St., Suite 200, Indianapolis, IN 46204.
