[N16616] Obituary: Robert W. Yustwan
April 4, 1924 - Sept. 14, 2007

SOUTH BEND - Robert W. Yustwan, 83, of South Bend, passed away Friday morning in his home after a courageous battle with prostate cancer. His final weeks and hours were attended and comforted by his loving and caring wife, daughters and family who never left his side. He was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Hill of South Bend. Robert was born August 4, 1924, in South Bend, to the late Walter and Mary Yustwan. On April 13, 1947, in South Bend, he married the love of his life from Athens, Greece, Telesila Hajidakis, who survives to cherish his loving memory along with their daughters, Linda Mikulak (Michael) of Ocala, FL, and Roberta "Bobbie" VanOsdal (Warren) of Granger, IN. Also surviving are a sister, Wanda Saucedo of Fort Wayne, IN; and loving niece and nephews, Vicki Hill of California and Charles Niblick (Cathy), Bill Niblick and Craig Hill, all of South Bend; and loving extended family, Kathy Â?VanOsdalÂ? Rohrman (Robert J.R.) of Niles, MI, and children, Ryan, Chase, Trey and Luke; Mark VanOsdal (Bernadette) of Tampa, FL, and children, Emerick and Greyson. Mr. Yustwan was employed at the Studebaker Corp. until 1963, and as a manager until retirement from Phillips Industries. Robert served proudly in the United States Army Medical Division during World War II and received the Purple Heart. He donated his uniform and medals to the Military Honor Park in South Bend, which he so loved. He loved God, family, fishing, the Cubs and the USA. His smile and helping hand was free to everyone; he will be missed dearly. He was a member of the DAV, American Legion, the Steel Headers Club, and was past president of the North West Conservation Club. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 20, 2007, in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road, with Pastor Charles Wood of Grace Church officiating, and entombment will be at Saint Joseph Valley Memorial Park with military honors. Friends may call one hour prior to services. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care, to The Military Honor Park in South Bend or to Grace Church. E-mail condolences may be made at welshfh@yahoo.com. God bless America. It is worth fighting for. Bob
