Mrs. Bernece P. Simcox, 92, of LaPorte, died Sunday, Nov. 6, 2011, at her home. She was born Oct. 22, 1919, in LaPorte to Vincent and Anastasia (Miaczkowska) Janzaruk.Bernece worked as a secretary for Kramer. She was a member of Friendly Neighbors Club and the Pine Lake Promenaders Square Dance Club. Bernece enjoyed her gardening. On Feb. 15, 1941, in South Bend, IN, she married Norman B. Simcox, who preceded her in death March 6, 2006. Bernece was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, Jack Simcox; one sister and two brothers. She is survived by her daughter, Norma Jones of LaPorte. The family will receive friends at Haverstock Funeral Home, LaPorte, on Wednesday, Nov. 9, from 5 to 8 p.m. and Thursday, Nov. 10, from noon to 1 p.m. Services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Jo Ellyn Chadwick officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte.
