Billy Joe Lambka, 81, of Elkhart, died Friday, Aug. 12, 2022, at Elkhart General Hospital. He was born June 6, 1941, in Elkhart, Indiana, to Fred G. and Mildred (Smee) Lambka. On Oct. 18, 1963, in Elkhart he married Janet L. Hartman. She preceded him in death on Nov. 21, 2016, in Wakarusa, Indiana. Surviving are two children, Fred Lambka and Tammy (Keith) Bainter, both of Elkhart, Indiana; one sister, Donna Bogart of Elkhart, Indiana; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Judy Strukel of Elkhart, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Janet and two brothers, Richie and Jim Lambka. Billy graduated in 1960 from Concord High School. He was a former member of the Jimtown Conservation Club, enjoyed fishing, camping and woodworking. He was also a very avid and competitive card player. He designed and built a large fireplace in his home made of fieldstones. Billy worked as a tool and die maker at Frederick Tool Corp. for 30 years. For a few years he and his wife ran The Rest Stop Restaurant at Pierre Moran Mall. He then retired from Ventline in Bristol.Visitation for family and friends will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, at the funeral home. Pastor Dan Brennaman will preside, and burial will follow at Prairie Street Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be given to Heart to Heart Hospice.
