SOUTH BEND - Dorothy J. Lyczynski, 77, of South Bend, IN, died at 2:25 a.m. Wednesday, September 16, 2009, following a lengthy illness. She was born on January 20, 1932, to the late Walter and Irene (Schultz) Pries in Michigan City, IN, and has lived in South Bend since 1965. Along with her parents; one son, Elvin Gardner; one sister, Virginia Hamilton; one son-in-law, Crist Wilson, one step-daughter, Colleen; and one step-son, Charles, Jr. also preceded her in death. Mrs. Lyczynski retired in 1997 from Howmet Corporation, after 35 years of employment. On May 31, 1975, as Dorothy J. Slisz, she married Anthony L. Lyczynski in South Bend, IN. He died on March 26, 1995. She is survived by her seven children, Linda Wilson of Weaver, AL; Mary (Mark) Bailey of Osceola, IN; Sandy Stineback of White Pigeon, MI; Betty Perez of South Bend, IN; Richard (Michelle) Slisz of South Bend, IN; Jeannie (Michael) King of South Bend, IN; and Jerry Slisz of Mishawaka, IN; one daughter-in-law, Ann Gardner of Buffalo, OK; fourteen stepchildren, Casey, Tommy, Phyllis, Loretta, Bud, Clayton, Marlene, Charlotte, Toni Marie, Vickie, Jackie, Jamie, Dorothy, and Jean; numerous grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Irene Angelo of Lawson, MI; and Patsy Roots of Michigan City, IN. Mrs. Lyczynski was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary Post #9820 and Bowlers Country Club. Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, September 17, 2009 and also will be from 11 a.m. - noon on today, September 18, 2009 in Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN. Funeral Services will be held at noon Friday, September 18, 2009 in Kaniewski Funeral Home, South Bend, IN, with Pastor Michael W. King officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery.
