SOUTH BEND - John Hominiuk Jr., age 93, of South Bend, IN, passed away on Jan. 30, 2013, at the home of his daughter in Roanoke, Virginia. He was born on February 8, 1919, to the late John and Anna Hominiuk of LaPorte, Indiana. Along with his parents, one brother, Paul, and two sisters, Julie Baum and Mary Heck, also preceded him in death. Mr. Hominiuk was a World War II Army combat vet who served at Dutch Harbor in the Aleutian Islands. He was honorably discharged at the rank of staff sergeant on July 24, 1945. Mr. Hominiuk worked for the Studebaker Corp., Edwards Iron Works and retired from Clark Equipment in Benton Harbor, Michigan, on November 1, 1980. On October 8, 1944, he married Henrietta Hecklinski in South Bend, Indiana. She passed away on February 21, 1974. On August 29, 1975, he married Lois Micinski, who passed away on August 11, 2011. He is survived by two children, Paul (Sue) Hominiuk of South Bend, Indiana, and Connie (Chip) Clemans of Roanoke, Virginia; two stepdaughters, Barbara (Don) Kominowski of Granger, Indiana, and Kathleen (Don) Fozo of Mishawaka, Indiana; one stepson, James (Dolores) Micinski of Suquamish, Washington; four grandchildren, Carla (Wes) Warner of Roanoke, Virginia, Carrie (Richie) Bawcum of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Brian (Lisa) Hominiuk of South Bend, Indiana, and Tara (Brian) Hamilton of Mishawaka, Indiana; seven step-grandchildren, Jennifer Fozo, Rush (Rebecca) Fozo, Amanda (Mark) Bagwell, Joseph (Alicia) Kominowski, Andrew (Kelly) Kominowski, Alisa (Jason) Bell and Erick Taggert; nine great-grandchildren, Cameron, Jack, Reagan, Jacob, Matthew, Lauren, Ashley, Amber and Allissa; and nine step-great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Ashley, Logan, Cassidy, Cameron, Alexander, Will, Evy and Zoey. A memorial will be held in South Bend, Indiana, at a date to be determined.
